The President Invites Families of Attacked Military Members to the White House

Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Tragic Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Mourners gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Legal Steps and Government Adjustments

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event led the government to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop granting entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor the governor mentioned on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit his relatives.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
