The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to develop a TTRPG set within the series' apocalyptic setting. The project has been announced, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," states an announcement.

Initial offerings will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, figurines, and various premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the nation into turmoil. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, turning the city into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. This is where the agents come in.

Work on the RPG has been underway for approximately three years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a preorder system to reach a broader market, particularly in North America. Production is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and tactical style. Players use abilities to roll small dice pools, typically from one to five d10s.

  • Rather than summing the total, participants select a single “result die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 grants special effects, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Engagements Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight

Fights stress positioning and environmental awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence success chances. This mechanic is designed to favor coordination and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Novel Health System

The way health is tracked introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a injury limit; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an operative is downed, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They may still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any player in this state must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like shock or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A free Quickstart Guide is promised in the near future. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the search for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup are expected to be detailed near the campaign launch.
