Soccer Expert Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, but can the Premier League leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

For the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole away win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.

So, what exactly do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have surprised a few people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.

My son told me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

Fulham have have plenty of talent in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team disrupt the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the end of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Rather, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's home record, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
