Renowned Star Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.

US entertainer Finn, who was seen in popular TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per media reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

An Extensive TV Career

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a party host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted on social media.

Pat Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
