Raducanu reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams in the current campaign.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her final two events in 2025 as a result of the illness that has affected her in recent days.

At 22 years old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to rest and recuperate before starting plans for the 2026 season.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the final set versus Zhu owing to back discomfort that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after a long gap since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled late this year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
