It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if not afforded the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that Healy was in motion.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
